Restore thanks its inspiring student volunteers
On student volunteering week, Restore extends a huge thank you to all of its student volunteers.
Restore is lucky to have many student volunteers who contribute and balance their time alongside studying – whether it’s in our recovery groups or the Opportunities Project.
It’s a fantastic way to pick up transferable skills for future employment, whilst helping support Restore in its mission to help those with mental health struggles in Oxfordshire.
Relationships with local universities and colleges are vital in aiding this process and helping to share Restore’s work with their students. These networks within the local community are vital in creating possibilities for students to hear about Restore’s work and get curious.

Recent student volunteers have kindly shared their experiences:
“I volunteered in order to gain more experience working in the mental health sector, but I’ve gained key skills that I’ll take not only into my future career but also my studies and personal life. It complimented the modules I was studying as part of my degree perfectly and helped me develop a deeper perspective that I was able to use in my coursework”
Emma, Elder Stubbs recovery group
“I originally applied to volunteer alongside studying an MSc in Psychology, so that I could use my spare time to encourage people with mental health challenges and gain experience for future studies. It has been so wonderful to see members flourish while I’ve been studying. Seeing first hand how the mental health challenges I’ve been studying can affect people has opened my eyes to the invaluable need for Restore. It truly is rebuilding confidence and restoring mental health“.
