23/12/20257 tips for Christmas
Although a time of celebration and joy, the Christmas season can be really hard for many people too. It can bring up difficult feelings and memories, and pressure to feel festive can be isolating for those struggling with their mental health.

Restore’s seven tips for ‘warmth’ are small but effective ways to support well-being.
🌟WARMTH:🌟
W: ‘Well-being first’: Self care is important all year round. Keep doing the things which help you.
A: ‘Ahead’: Plan ahead and think about what can help you to cope if you feel overwhelmed.
R: ‘Reschedule’: If Christmas Day is difficult, make a different day special without the pressure.
M: ‘Manage expectations’: No Christmas can ever be perfect, doing your best is enough!
T: ‘Treat yourself kindly’: Be gentle, do what is helpful for you and allow yourself little treats, like food and films.
H: ‘Help and support’: Make a list of people and places you can turn to for support, the signposting pages on restore.org.uk may help.
Do what feels right for you, whether that’s spending time with family, friends, or being on your own. Remember it’s okay not to follow usual Christmas traditions if they feel unmanageable. Each year can look different, and there’s no pressure. To seek support from Restore’s year round services find out more.
