27/06/2024Announcement: Monty Is New Patron
Exciting news today, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, Restore is delighted to announce Monty Panesar, the legendary former international cricketer, as its newest patron.
Monty will lend his support to Restore’s mission of supporting recovery, promoting mental health awareness and eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Monty Panesar’s commitment to mental health advocacy has been evident this year through his recent participation in fundraising endeavours with Restore, such as donating signed merchandise for the Dorchester Festival auction, his forthcoming participation for Restore in the 2024 Oxford Half Marathon, and his enthusiastic involvement in the ‘Score for Restore‘ charity football match earlier this year, alongside other celebrities, sports stars, and influencers.
Expressing his eagerness to support Restore’s mission and drawing from his own experiences, Panesar said “I hope that my involvement with Restore, as a fantastic mental health charity, can help to destigmatise conversations surrounding mental well-being. It may inspire an increasingly broad and diverse range of people to feel empowered to open up about mental health. I’d like to be a part of supporting a culture of understanding and acceptance.”
The ambitions to reduce stigma combined with Monty’s sporting prowess lend themselves perfectly to making the announcement on Mental Health Awareness Week where this year’s theme is movement.
“We are delighted to welcome Monty Panesar as our newest patron,” said Libby Peppiatt, CEO of Restore. “Monty’s support so far has been fantastic, along with his eagerness to advocate opening up about mental health, and promoting inclusivity and diversity. We hope that with Monty’s support, we can reach even more people in communities across Oxfordshire, creating a supportive environment for all by opening up conversations about mental health.”
As patron, Monty Panesar will play a role in supporting Restore’s fundraising initiatives, community engagement, and advocacy efforts, all supporting better mental health.
