18/09/2023Restore charity partner of Dorchester Festival
One of Oxfordshire’s most imaginative events returns in May 2024, Dorchester-On-Thames Festival, for a tenth year in partnership with Restore.
Over 3,000 people are anticipated to attend the festival which is made up of more than 50 events over 10 days. Highlights include the return of world class classical group The Tallis Scholars, the BBC Elstree Concert Band, the now legendary abseil down the abbey’s 100ft tower, cookery workshops by top chefs, comedy, folk and jazz nights, a gift and food fair, and even a duck race. Restore will be adding its own activities focused on mental health and well-being.
The family festival is entirely volunteer run, and gives all profits to charity, with proceeds in 2024 to be shared equally between Dorchester Abbey and Restore. The festival has raised around £250,000 since it started in 2005 and partnered with nine local charities to help them raise funds and promote the work that they do.
Restore’s CEO, Libby Peppiatt, says “Restore are thrilled to partner with the Dorchester festival and champion better mental health on the ground with an event for everyone! Look out for Restore’s artwork, handmade produce and try cakes made by members in recovery groups.”
“With one in four people experiencing mental ill health in their lifetime, this partnership brings mental health awareness to the forefront of the vibrant community celebrations. The festival has an incredible reputation and a remarkable track record with local good causes, we’re honoured to have been chosen.”
Steph Forman, Festival Director says “The festival committee have been so impressed by the real difference that Restore makes to the lives of local people, and are delighted to partner with such a fantastic charity for our 2024 festival. Mental ill health can impact anyone – be it personally or with friends, family, colleagues, or neighbours. Restore makes a huge impact across the county, supporting people to rebuild their lives, with new confidence, skills, and being able to find a way forward.”
Dorchester on Thames Festival will take place between 3rd and 12th May 2024. For information visit dorchesterfestival.com and restore.org.uk.
