Opening-up conversations on World Mental Health Day

Restore is offering a free online event on World Mental Health Day. The ‘lunch and learn’ is aimed at those in business, sports teams and working with young people, and will share tips about starting conversations and helping peers to support one another.

Look out for Restore and their vibrant tuk tuk, taking to the streets of Oxford, to share information and invite people to the event.

Anyone can reserve a spot, subject to availability, for the 30 minute talk on 10th October at 12.30pm.

On World Mental Health Day Restore seeks to speak with those in environments where it may be difficult to speak about mental health. Specifically seeking to talk about how to have conversations about mental health and encourage supporting one another.

Around a quarter of all people will experience mental ill health at some stage of their lives and more than 500,000 people in England live with severe mental ill health. It impacts lives. Confidence, personal relationships and the ability to retain a job can all suffer. Restore works across Oxfordshire to make a difference.

Libby Peppiatt, Restore’s CEO, says: “For World Mental Health Day, we are sharing tips and resources with the community. Workplaces and sports teams can be supportive spaces, but they can also be isolating for people who are unwell. By opening up conversations and helping people to talk about mental health, together, we can break down barriers and reduce stigma. Mental ill health should not be a barrier to a good quality of life, it should be the start of a conversation and the beginning of a journey towards recovery.“
