21/11/2018Welcome to our new Head of Oxfordshire Recovery College—Stephanie Byrne
We are thrilled to welcome our new Head of Oxfordshire Recovery College. Stephanie Byrne is a long-time Oxfordshire resident who joins the College from a charity which creates healthier and happier home environments for young children. Stephanie is excited to have the opportunity to cycle into the office and work in the mental health sector, having studied for a Psychology degree.
Stephanie joins the College at an important point in our history. Since our foundation in 2015, the College has seen more than 1,300 students pass through our doors, with over 400 students currently active (October 2018).
The Recovery College model in the UK is just a decade old, but Oxfordshire Recovery College’s evaluations with students show significant improvement in their wellbeing even after attending just one course. In the words of one student, “I have been feeling good about myself and more confident.” And 93% of students tell us they are happy with our courses overall.
Stephanie said, “I have been overwhelmed by the welcome I have received from everyone at the Recovery College, Restore, and the Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership. We have a growing and significant local profile and I’m looking forward to working with staff, volunteers, students, and service users. My ambition for Oxfordshire Recovery College is to build on everything we have done so far and everything we do so well already.”
