We are excited to announce that our new Chief Executive will start at Restore on 1
August!
Martin Realey was the successful candidate in a rigorous recruitment process to find Restore’s new Chief Executive Officer. Our former CEO Benedict Leigh left to join Oxfordshire County Council in June.
Martin starts officially on 1 August but is currently volunteering at some of our services around the county to understand more about the charity and meet our service users, volunteers and staff.
Martin has volunteered and supported a number of charities including Macmillan, The Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes, Plan Guinea and The Afghanistan Trust. He joins the voluntary sector after 14 years military service with the Parachute Regiment.
He said, ‘Given the quality and experience of people at Restore, I’m delighted to become the newest member of a team that has such a great reputation in the community.’
‘I feel passionate about challenging the stigma around mental illness and creating opportunities for people with mental health issues to find (and keep) meaningful paid employment.’
Martin is demonstrating his commitment to Restore by pulling on the lycra and fundraising for us! He is taking part in the London Men’s Olympic Triathlon on 3 August and the Oxford Half Marathon on 12 October. Good luck, Martin!
Acting Chief Executive Pat Wood said, ‘Martin has an in-depth understanding of the impact of mental illness and the value of recovery, gained during his 14 year military career. I am certain that he will bring a wealth of knowledge, valuable contributions and new energy to Restore.’
