26/09/2019Wet weather doesn’t dampen the spirit at the Whitley Stimpson Golf Event in support of Restore
On Friday 7th September our Head of Fundraising and Communications, Claire Spence-Parsons went along to accountancy firm Whitley Stimpson’s annual golf day at Frilford Heath Golf Club.
A slightly wet day on the course was followed by speeches from Whitley Stimpson Director Stuart Haigh, and from Claire about the work that Restore does, and ended with a well-deserved dinner for those who had weathered the day.
The evening was a brilliant opportunity for Claire to share the Restore vision of promoting self-worth, confidence and recovery from mental ill-health for members, and to raise much needed funds to enable Restore to continue its vital work offering recovery programmes such as employment coaching, training courses, and practical therapeutic work rehabilitation. The day was topped by a presentation of a cheque for £1,000 from attendees to Restore.
Claire said ‘Restore relies on donations and fundraising to enable us to continue our vital work, supporting people with mental ill-health to recover and get back to leading full lives. Each year we support around 900 people across five sites in Oxfordshire to get back to paid employment, volunteering, and to participate in their community; to have a sense of purpose.
As a small local charity we aim to keep our overheads as low as possible so that the funds raised from events such as the Whitley Stimpson Golf Day go towards the delivery of these services for our members. We are so grateful to everyone at Whitley Stimpson not only for their support, but for recognising that purpose plays a significant part in the recovery journey of our members.’
