26/03/2014Successful gardening project receives funding to continue
Following two successful years, the Langford Gardening project has been extended for another year.
The aim of the project is to support people with mental health problems to learn gardening and associated skills in recovery groups. Restore employs a county-wide gardening specialist, Brian Corcoran, to inspire and encourage members to get involved in all things green-fingered.
The project was established in memory of Rob and Peggy Langford, with the hope that others can be supported and encouraged to love gardening as they did.
So far the project has supported hundreds of people with mental health problems around the county to develop horticultural skills.
Brian said, ‘The project is going really well, and members seem to be getting a lot out of it. We’re delighted it can continue.
‘The plan now is to support people to get gardening qualifications and we are taking steps to get accreditation. This is something members have been asking for. It will help people with their recovery and job prospects.’
