Chat & Bat with Monty: Oxford cricket event
23/10/2024Pedal power with purpose – 24 hour ‘Pelotonathon’
Restore’s brilliant partner, North South Wines, recently completed their first major fundraising event for Restore—a grueling 24-hour “Pelotonathon”— raising an incredible £9,000!
The team set up two Peloton bikes in their office, cycling continuously for 24 hours and covering an impressive 1,000 km. Around 30 staff members took turns, each cycling for an hour, day and night, to keep the wheels spinning non-stop.
Leading the effort, Kim Wilson, MD of North South Wines, cycled both the opening and closing shifts, even taking part through the night. Before the event, she said, "This will be a true test of teamwork and endurance… It won't be easy—there will be sore legs and bums—but we're ready for the challenge!"
The determination and enthusiasm of the team highlights the impact of creative and innovative charitable fundraising for mental health services. With partners like North South Wines, Restore can amplify its reach, raise essential funds, and most importantly, support better mental health in the Oxfordshire community.
"We're committed to making a long-term difference for Restore, both through fundraising and regular volunteering," says Kim. "Restore offers such a vital service in our community and we want to contribute as best we can. This is not a one-off partnership. We’re in it for the long haul."
This Pelotonathon is the latest in North South Wine’s exceptional support for Restore, which has included team volunteering days at Restore’s Elder Stubbs allotment, mental health awareness talks, and individual fundraising efforts like running the Oxford Half. And there’s even more to come in 2025!
